  • What is the Quantum Fringe?
Quantum Fringe is a series of events centred around quantum computing taking place in the summer of 2025, including conferences, workshops, and seminars. This festival is designed to explore and celebrate advancements in quantum science, technology, and its interdisciplinary applications to bring together researchers, industry experts, and enthusiasts. The name “Quantum Fringe” is inspired by the world-famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival which takes place in the city every August.
  • How can I buy tickets?
The Quantum Fringe does not offer a general admission ticket for all events. You can find detailed information for each event using the “Learn More” buttons. Please note that some events are invitation-only and do not have tickets available for public admissions.
  • Who can attend the Quantum Fringe?
Different Quantum Fringe events may have different audiences, from beginners in quantum computing, to experts in the field. Please refer to the individual event pages to see whether an event is open to the public and what background knowledge will be assumed for each event.
  • Where are the events held?
Most events are held in Edinburgh but there are other events across Scotland, such as the Isle of Skye. Please check each event page for specific details about venue locations.
  • Are the events in-person, virtual or hybrid?
All events are in person, but some may be recorded or live-streamed. Please refer to the individual event page to see whether a recording or live stream will be available.
  • Are there sponsorship opportunities for the Quantum Fringe?
Yes, we are currently accepting sponsor applications. For more information, please refer to our sponsorship package below or contact Craig Skeldon (craig.skeldon@ed.ac.uk).
  • Who is organising the Quantum Fringe?
The Quantum Fringe is organised by the Quantum Software Lab, in partnership with the National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC). Each individual event participating in the festival is managed by its own organising committee.
  • Can I volunteer for the Quantum Fringe?
If you would like to volunteer for the Quantum Fringe, please contact us at quantumsoftwarelab@ed.ac.uk.
  • I have accessibility needs, who should I contact?
We are committed to accommodating accessibility needs to the best of our ability. Please contact us at quantumsoftwarelab@ed.ac.uk or reach out to the individual event organizers to discuss your requirements. Useful guidance on accessibility in/around Edinburgh can be found here: https://edinburgh.org/planning/local-information/accessible-edinburgh/.
  • Is accommodation provided?
There is no general accommodation provided for Quantum Fringe attendees. However, some individual events may include accommodation as part of their ticket purchase. Please check the details of each event for more information. As Edinburgh is a highly popular destination during the summer, finding accommodation can be challenging. We strongly recommend booking your travel and accommodation well in advance if you plan to participate in any of the events.
  • Can I submit a proposal for an event?
Yes, we are currently accepting proposals for events! Please fill out the event proposal form or get in touch with us at quantumsoftwarelab@ed.ac.uk. Please note that we do not provide funding for events.
  • How do I get to Edinburgh?
Edinburgh is served by an international airport located 8 miles from the city centre. Connections to the city are available by bus or tram, and there is an ample public transportation network operating throughout the city.
